Share Class

Companies are required to have at least one class of shares.

Step one

Enter either (a) the maximum number of shares the company is authorized to issue for this class, or (b) check the box to indicate that there is no maximum number of shares for this class.

info

If you are filing a Transition Application, you may only indicate the number of shares.  Option (b) is not available in this filing.

Step two

Enter the full name of this class.  The name must be unique and may not include the word "value".

Step three

Click one of the radio buttons to indicate whether or not the shares in this class are with or without par value.

Step four

If you selected With Par Value, enter the amount of the par value and select the appropriate type of currency from the drop down box on the right.

When entering the amount, do not use a currency symbol such as a dollar or pound sign. Just enter the amount, including the value after the decimal point. Amounts less than 1 can be entered with up to 3 decimal places. For example: 100.00 Canadian Dollar .333 U.S. Dollar 9.239 English Pound.

info

If you are filing a Transition Application, only Canadian dollars are permitted.

Step five

Click one of the radio buttons to indicate whether or not this class of shares have any Special Rights or Restrictions attached. Note that you can only define share series for this class if you answer Yes to this question.

Step six

Click the next button.
